This forum is kind of in an interesting position. Normally large forums exist to bring together folks who would otherwise never meet, in the sort of situation where they can share knowledge. In situations like this (and just on the internet in general) folks would never even think about posting personally identifying info like addresses and phone numbers.
Our forum, on the other hand, is focused locally, and to me it exists just as much for event coordination as it does for sharing of knowledge. The problem is, it's still a public forum, with the same "is this really a good idea?" of posting personal info.
So the idea that popped into my head would be to have some sort of "Contact Info" forum where folks could post phone numbers and/or addresses. I'm sure ben could find a way to limit this subforum to registered users only, and maybe only people who have more than x number of posts (to exclude bots and spammers).
Alternately, we could create a PDF and put it somewhere password protected, and just PM people a link and a password.
Anyways, what are everyone else's thoughts on this? Let me know if it's a good/bad idea, if you'd do it differently, etc.
